A brief is a set of instructions given to a person about a job or task. Also can be to instruct or inform (someone) thoroughly, especially in preparation for a task.

A brief would generally start off by including key details. There should be details on the production location, for instance if it was in Canada of China and it’d inform you on location-based briefs. Objectives and goals are always used with a brief because it includes important information on what the main idea is about and what it wants you to see. A goal set for the brief you’re going to create is always helpful because it helps you with the structure. A budget and schedule should be included because by knowing ahead of time what kind of budget you have to work with, you can altar your services to give the most benefit for money. If you don’t have a clear idea in mind of how long a brief could take you it’s always important to have a schedule made. It’s very important to know what audience your brief is targeted at as well. For example if your brief is targeted at teenagers rather than adults then it’s going to be quite different. It’s important to create something that appeals to more than one generation however. Important small thing should be included as well like do you have a logo or other product materials that would be important to your brief. It’s also good to have a style to your brief as it’s then pleasing to the eye.

Brief 1 is on Braintree.

the-brief

  • Braintree, as technology-first payment experts, help businesses of all shapes and sizes to adapt to the changing landscape of online payments and bring beautiful commerce experiences to life.
  • Two main challenges are: Next-generation executives are time poor and network conscious. And, as more dynamic content appears in the world, traditional media cuts through less.
  • The key role in our communications in London was therefore to continue exposure to developers and find ways to provide something unique and valuable to our audience.
  • We added a competitive edge by adding a race element to ensure we were motivating the teams with awesome prizes, culminating in the overall winner earning their start up advertised on a billboard in East London.
  • The scheme is not only mobilizing riders from the Shore-ditch tech community in a new and exciting way, but providing Braintree with a platform to reward the riders and engage in a conversation.
  • We want to spark some human interest too and create some buzz for the bike scheme. So potentially talking about mobile payments and the industry more generally.
  • Braintree would like to commission a UK based filmmaker to create a 2-3 minute film about ‘Tour de Tech’, a cycle scheme giving innovative businesses in Shoreditch free Braintree branded bikes for 6 months.

Brief 2 is on Facebook.

the-brief-2

  • In their first year, 1000 students from 60 school across regional and metropolitan Australia have participated the program. Their experiments will be launched into space on December 9th from Japan.
  • Cuberider is the first Australian organisation to win government approval to fly a mission to space. On the 9 December 2016, Cuberider will make history when the experiments of 1000 students from 60 schools across Australia will be launched into space to the International Space Station (ISS).
  • Over the next 20 years, almost half of all Australian jobs will be digitally disrupted. Around 75% of the fastest growing occupations require STEM knowledge.
  • We want to spark their curiosity with opportunity to take part in their own space mission and inspire them by demonstrating how Cuberider gives them learning opportunities only limited by their imagination.
  • Thanks to Cuberider, young people now have unprecedented access to space. Using our hardware flown to the ISS and the data downloaded from it, every student in Australia has the opportunity to design an experiment and analyse the data.
  • The video should capture the imagination, curiosity, critical thinking and problem solving that the students across Australian have employed.
  • Facebook are looking for a filmmaker to create an exciting and inspiring 60-90 second video to promote the launch of an upcoming mission to space and tell the story of Australian Edu-tech company Cuberider, and their mission to inspire the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs and critical thinkers.

I assume I have been given the job for brief 1 on Braintree which is about that they would like to commission a UK based filmmaker to create a 2-3 minute film about ‘Tour de Tech’, a cycle scheme giving innovative businesses in Shoreditch free Braintree branded bikes for 6 months. I would like to ask clients information during the initial meeting. I would like to ask ‘what is it you mainly would like to see’ because it’s important to know what the clients would like to be shown. Also ‘what message would you like to get across’ I feel as if this is a really important question because if in the video I am able to get a particular message across then it might get people more interested in bike riding and people will pay attention to the video. And if people pay more attention to the video then it might get talked about and shown around. This will then equal in a popular outcome. Also I feel as if i should ask about key information on ‘Tour de Tech’ so I have a clear understating of it all.

I assume I have been given the job for brief 2 on Facebook which is about looking for a filmmaker to create an exciting and inspiring 60-90 second video to promote the launch of an upcoming mission to space and tell the story of Australian Edu-tech company Cuberider, and their mission to inspire the next generation of innovators, entrepreneurs and critical thinkers. I would like to ask clients information during the initial meeting as I want to make the film amazing. I want to ask key questions like ‘What main footage would you like to appear’ or ‘is there any message or anything in particular you would like to get across’ as I feel this is valuable information I should know to make the film exactly what they want. I also feel as if it’s important the clients tell me a clear overview of the story on ‘Australian Edu-tech company Cuberider’ as it would then help me to work on the project.
